Test Finals

These are little examples of my posters and i have created twelve different posters and will chose six minimum of how many i want to display on show. i think that they are all very creative in there own ways and they all have on the elements of which need to be included in a successful poster design.

Possible Punchlines

Now that i made my letters possible to move it was now time to think about what punchlines i wanted to have on my posters. i had looked at varies different posters already in my research so i had a few good ideas of what kind of text i was going to apply to my posters. i wanted the text to be short and snappy yet have a strong relationship with the image on the poster. my favourite punchline that i had seen in my research was "dont lose control" i think that the powerful effect which was given by this simple sentence was very touching. i creates alot of my punchline ideas surrounding this example, however i made sure i created a variety of punchlines because i didnt want to use the same punchline on every poster.
The ideas i came up with are
  • what did i do?
  • im sorry
  • dont blame it on the child
  • can someone help
  • they cant ask for help
  • i didnt know

Applying The Font

When i was going to apply my font to my posters i used photoshop to import the letters at the correct size and make them clear so they did not pixelate. i took an image of my alphabet which i created and put the file into photoshop and using the levels i changed the image so that it was lighter and looked alot clearer. i then needed to create different layers around all of the letters so that i could easily move each letter to create different words without having a solid white square around them. After creating this i could now move each letter around and onto the illustrator document i wanted with ease.

Barnardos

As my campaign was for Barnardos it was very important that i included the logo for the company on my poster to make it look authentic and original. I also wanted to include the website so that if the poster was seen in a subway or in a newspaper it is easy to contact them. I want to put the logo and contact details on every individual poster because they will not be in a group when out on display they will all be separate posters. The logo on the posters is slightly pixilated as these are just my draft posters and when i create the original sizes i will use a more suitable logo resolution.

Composition

I wanted to try something different and create something a little bit different so i got four of my images and put them together all on different layers so that i could go over them and create a collage of images all joint together. I wanted to do this for just one poster to see if it would look more effective than just one simple image on the poster.

A Few More Images I Created

Here are some more images that i have created to include them on my posters. i have chosen a variety of images to pick from and they are all of different children, different genders and sizes. The reason i did this is because i don't want all of the posters to look the same even if they are in different poses, plus i also think that it is good to show that abuse can happen to any child.

Images

I think that for my posters i want to keep the images as the colour red because when i tried to change the colour to black it didn't look as effect as the red sketch and i also think that this will relate more to my font because i know that i don't want to change the colour of the blood because even though it may still look like blood it wont have the same effect of the blobs in the weight. i think that the effect of these images look really good due to the fact it goes brilliantly with the effect of acting as though it is a child who has created them. In order to create the images i have got a few pictures of the internet and gone over them with the pencil tool in order to make them my own

Creating My Posters

Now that i had done my research tried alternative ways to make different posters and created my font which i wanted to use for my campaign, it was time that i started to create my poster designs. i wasn't to sure on how many poster designs i wanted to create but being that i wanted about six finals i think that i need to at least have a dozen poster designs which i can pick from when advertising my finals.

First Attempts

Even though i had decided that i wanted to use a sketchy type illustration for my poster i wanted to see if i could still create a real type photograph poster for one of my creations. In my attempt to make my poster design i tried to use a photograph from the internet and apply another image of splattered paint on top of the image on photoshop. i took a blood splatter into photoshop and used the magic wand tool to cut around the blood splatter so it was clean cut and ready to apply on an image within another layer. i got some images of baby's from the internet and applied the blood splatter in the appropriate position, however when i was going over the images and looking at my draft outcomes i thought they looked very disturbing and even though that was the approach i was going for it was very clear that it was the wrong way to approach my campaign.

Blood Experiments

Using the stage blood i then wanted to see the different types of experiments that i could create using my hands. i wanted to use my hands because i thought that i could create the effect of a hand rubbing down the page as if the child was being dragged away from the wall and having a hand print of blood. i did my own hand prints and i even got my brother and sister to do there hand prints to see the different sizes that i could get. The images that i created using handprints were not as successful as i pictured them to be so i am not going to use them in my poster designs.

Final Font

This is my final font that i have created, i am really proud of my alphabet because i think that it all looks very clean cut and effective, all of the different weights make the alphabet stick out rather than lay flat and have no depth to it. now that i have created a whole alphabet it will be easy for me to use single letters that i need to create a sentence or short quote for my posters

Step 3 (font)

Now that i had established the way that i wanted to create my words i started to think that it would be a better idea if i created the whole alphabet myself rather than just the words. I decided to this because i think that for my posters i could then use a sentence (strapline) rather than just a single word. i think that using a sentence would look a lot more effective than the same word on all of my posters because it doesn't show variety. i used the thicker stick to do my alphabet because i think that it gave more of a different variety of weights.

Step 2 (font)

i now started to create words which i thought that i might want to use on my poster. i picked the word hurt and fear to play around with and create them in a childish creative format however i still wanted them to look effective. the words look very creative, the weight of the letters was the main effect that i wanted to get from creating these words and i had achieved this.

Step One (Font)

To get the correct type of effect i wanted i new that i would have to create the font manually rather than PC base, so my first move was to buy some stage blood, so i went on the internet and bought a small bottle which would have enough stage blood in there to create my font. The way in which i wanted to create my font was using a stick which i found from the garden because i learned this technique in my drawing lesson.i wanted to use a stick instead or dipping a pen into the blood because i wanted to get different weights in the letters rather than the same weight throughout. i used two different types of sticks, one was thin and one was thick. i used two different types because i wanted to see the different outcome that i would get with both sticks. To get the effect of a child i used my left hand rather than my right hand to keep it unsteady and not clean.

Creating the Font

I was thinking of different ways in which i could create a font, i new that i wanted to have it in the colour red to represent blood and have it blobby or drippy to make it look like real blood. I was thinking of ways in which i could get this effect across using photoshop but that wasn't the correct effect which i wanted because i new that it would look like a vector image rather than lifelike which was the approach i was going for.

A Font

When i was looking at different campaign posters as well as the logo they also all had some text on them for example a slogan or strap line to make it more powerful and effective. i wanted to keep the text on my poster very simple and to the point, however i didn't want to use a font that was on the PC i thought that it would be a lot more effective and creative if i created my own font.

Jose Antonio Gonzalez Carrasco

This is an illustrator that I looked at because i think that his work related well to my style of work that i wanted to use. I really like the way that the use of line has been used to create a full image with so much detail that is created through the design process. Even though Jose's work has a lot of fine detail involved in it i still think that he is an artist who has inspired me to create my work in this style of a combination of sketchy lines to create a full image. My images will not have detail like this involved in them because then i feel that it will not have the same effect as being as if it was personally created by a child.
